Allida Allen began riding horse when she was three years old. At age twelve she began her first working student position in a hunter jumper barn with well known trainers John and Katie Berney. Upon realizing her potential as a rider she was encouraged to move to England , where she received her AI with the British horse society. After her completion of the the necessary courses Allida returned to the United States . She then began an apprenticeship with Grand Prix dressage rider and USDF gold medalist Barbie Breen Gurley.
After two years of starting young horses and competing throughout California , Allida moved back to England and worked with Sandy Phfluger Phillips, an Olympic dressage rider. There, Allida was groom to Sandy ’s top competition horses in exchange for lessons and living accommodation. It was in England that Allida was first able to compete outside of the United States . After working with Sandy for a little over a year Allida moved to Germany where she was fortunate enough to be hired at Groenwohldhof to work with Karen Rehbein. Five years of training, riding and competing in Germany gave Allida the confidence to move back to the United States and began her career as a professional. Allida then achieved both her bronze and silver USDF medals. Now living in Santa Cruz California , Allida is happily starting young horses, giving lessons and competing.
